ABSTRACT

This study examined the Time-Lagged mediating role of stress in the relationship between career development and work values using data from the Youth Panel 2021 (Waves 1-3, N=5,515). Structural equation modeling revealed that, first, Time 1 career development had a significant negative effect on Time 2 stress, which in turn negatively affected Time 3 work values. Second, Time 1 career development had a significant positive effect on Time 3 work values. Third, Time 2 stress partially and temporally mediated the relationship between Time 1 career development and Time 3 work values. These findings suggest that career development acts as a psychological buffer in an uncertain labor market, highlighting the need for integrated support linking career assistance and stress management.
