AB - 본고에서는 「あげる」와 「与える」의 의미 분석을 하여, 각각이 어떠한 공통적인 의미 특징을 갖고 있으며, 또한 어떠한 시차적(示差的)인 특징에 의해서 대립하고 있는가를 고찰했다. 그 결과, 「あげる」와 「与える」는 다음과 같은 의미특징에 의해 서로 대립하고 있다고 생각된다. (1)「あげる」가 단순히 与え手의 소유물의 ≪所有(権)의 移動≫을 나타내는 한편, 「与える」는 与え手가 실제로 소유하고 있는 것 뿐 만 아니라 새롭게 마련한 것도 受け手가 소유하도록 한다는 내용을 나타내고 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다. (2)「あげる」가 ≪恩恵性≫ 이라는 의미 특징을 갖고 있는 한편, 「与える」는 그러한 의미 특징을 갖고 있지 않다. (3) 「あげる」의 与え手와 受け手가 동등한 입장에 있는데 반해서, 「与える」의 与え手는 受け手보다 上位의 입장에 있다고할 수 있다. (4)「あげる」와 共起하는 ヲ格名詞의 성질이 ≪具体性≫인 것인데 반해, 「与える」에는 그러한 제한은 없다.
