ABSTRACT

This study is aimed to clarify a correlation between Kara and node, connective postpositions which connect subordinate and main clause to cause and reason in terms of both usages as insubordination, which excludes main clause in the surface of complex sentence. In the present study, it was speculated by a quantitative approach method in large-scale data of the corpus regarding to the usages of Kara and node as insubordination. In specific, not only frequency but preference of the usage of Kara and node as insubordination was investigated in four registers of Japanese corpus, BCCWJ. Besides, comparative study of a example, connected final particle to the back of insubordination, was conducted with speculation of three features for the usage as following; Firstly, Kara showed the higher frequency of usage as insubordination as a result of comparison since it tends to play a key roll as connective postposition. Secondly, in the usage of insubordination, connected final particle to the back, Kara+ final particle indicated the highest frequency of usage whereas final particle+Ne did the highest as a result of usage distribution of final particle. Accordingly, insubordination, such as the subordinate clause+Kara + Ne, has been used with the highest frequency of usage in general. Finally, the usage with normal sentence was preferred with high frequency with respect to the writing style of Kara and node in the insubordination. In the general usage of Japanese, it was obvious that the frequency of usage of Kara was higher than that of node. It is suggested that a original function indicating a causal relationship between main clause and subordinate clause attributes to function of insubordination.
