ABSTRACT

This study explored the evaluation of Japanese teachers who were Japanese native speakers, and Korean audiences who were learning Japanese, about presentations made in Japanese by other Korean learners of Japanese. It adopted the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis in order to make the evaluation viewpoint clearer. As a result, this study found that the Japanese teachers had sub-conscious perceptions such as the social desirability and individual closeness, activity and presentation skills, pronunciation accuracy, linguistic accuracy and fluency, presentation contents, conversation strategy, Koreans’ special features of pronunciation, and individual closeness. Meanwhile the Koreans learning Japanese had sub-conscious perceptions such as the individual closeness, linguistic fluency and presentation skills, social desirability, Koreans’ special features of pronunciation, linguistic accuracy and appropriateness, presentation contents, activity, and conversation strategy. Further, it was found through the confirmatory factor analysis that the results of the factor analysis of these two groups were valid.
