ABSTRACT

This article proposes that Christian counselor has to take a more evangelical robust view of psychopathology in order to set up a discrete identity of Christian counseling in the process of counseling. It mentions that Christian counseling needs to make an effort to give prominence to the place of Jesus Christ to discern the perfect normal state of human being alongside his salvation and the order of creation. It examines several aspects of the diagnostic methods, an expert system to aid medical diagnosis, and it’s limitation. The other issue discussed in this article is that three suggestions to integrate Christian perspective on the abnormal condition into the scenery of the Christian counseling; (1) spiritual assessment, (2) an acknowledgement of the importance of the sin, (3) deepening our understanding of the biblical principle about human motivation and psychopathology.
