ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to introduce specific ways of Christian counseling for applying pastoral field. This study firstly summarized what the Bible said about the counseling and focused on the definition, the object, the characteristics and the necessity of Christian counseling. In addition, the study seeked to suggest the integrated model between the theology and psychology so that Christian counseling could be applied into contemporary pastoral area. It also mentioned the actual state of counseling of large-sized churches and the result of the present counseling condition from other churches in Korea. To explain the achievement of this study, the counseling work of Hanmil church where I have served as a pastor is introduced as an example. In Hanmil counseling case, you can find how counseling service of Hanmil church has developed and how counseling team works in present. Also this study explains how Hanmil counseling service made good result by verifying statistically the result of 'Loving Relationship Program', which is one of the counseling programs of Hanmil church. Therefore, this purpose of study was not only to define but also to expand the possibility to apply its Christian counseling into contemporary churches by reviewing Hanmil church case study.
