ABSTRACT

Often leadership has been understood as power by those who have it over those who don't have power, especially in Western culture. Secular leadership in the political and economic world tends to be emphasized in order to enhance the situation of the powerful at the expense of the powerless. Jesus' leadership, however, in the bible is leadership which heals the sick, provides the poor with food, and serves those who are suffering. Furthermore, Jesus' leadership is leadership which gives up as a ransom even his unique life in order to accomplish God's holy will. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce agape leadership as a biblical leadership pattern, to deal with the issue of pastoral counselor's role, and to apply to a special counseling case. Agape leadership is anew terminology which the writer made and the word is a kind of holistic concept which includes three patterns of leaderships like servant leadership(MK 10:41-45), shepherd leadership(PS 23:1-6), and steward leadership(LK 12:41-48) in the Bible. In the subject of pastoral counseling's role the writer wants to deal with that of shepherd, servant, helper, healer, teacher, and religious leader. Additionally, the writer handles the case of a specially troubled freshman in the connection of this title. In the era of rapid change like today, the effective leadership of leadership is demanded. Even in the future, it will be not easy for us to find servant leadership from political, economic leaders because the system of secular leadership has a characteristic of hierarchical structure. Christian religious leaders, especially in case of pastors, will be able to have good influence on the leaders who work in the field of politics, economics, society or education. Finally, the writer wants to lay emphasis on the practice of agape leadership in the situation of counseling.
