Many church leaders and congregations have realized the problem in and needs of families in congregation and got more interested in family ministry for the congregation. At the same time, however, they have realized the uneasiness to launch family ministry. This essay points out the lack of concerns on the actual practice of family ministry in congregation and potential problems in the process of family ministry, and then, suggests that congregation need to understand the definition of family ministry that set the boundary and scope of family ministry. More concretely, it introduces congregational studies and suggests the importance of understanding ministry philosophy and leadership, existing elements of family ministry, and resources for family ministry through the perspective of congregational studies.
