ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a forgiveness program on forgiveness experience and self-esteem of the Christian adolescents. Data were collected from 30 high schools students who were the Christians. This study confirmed the results as follows. First, as a result of homogeneity test between the experimental group and the control group, the sub-regions of forgiveness experience and self-esteem are such that p=.413/p=.331 do not show significant difference statistically in scores. Second, as a result of analysis of the pre-post differences, the average scores forgiveness experience pre(M=66.65)-post(M=78.21)and self-esteem pre(M=35.21)-post (M=39.28) of the experimental group of a forgiveness program are relatively showed a significant difference compared to the average scores pre(forgiveness experience M=66.10,self-esteem M=35.38)-post(forgiveness experience M=66.12,self-esteem M=34.21)of the control group. While a significant level of forgiveness experience and self-esteem of the control group are meaningless, a significant level of forgiveness experience p<.01 and self-esteem p<.05 showed statistically significant in the experimental group. In the above results, forgiveness program has been proven to be effective of the adolescents' forgiveness experience and self-esteem.
