ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to find the necessary principles of counseling, process, and methodology in Christian Counseling from a biblical perspective. For that reason this study explored an emotional approach required in early counseling process through the description of Jesus' emotional process. Jesus perceived his emotion(Mark 14:31-36) and Jesus was sensible to know it(Mark 14:32-34). Besides Jesus correctly recognized the emotion(Mark 14:35). In fact, the Bible says that Jesus gave names to his emotions of sorrow, surprise, and agony and reacted sensitively and honestly to his emotions, thereby confronting the pain which he was encountering(Mark 14:36). Jesus Christ perceived them calmly and heeded to messages from God even amid inner anxiety and agony and chose to fulfill his ultimate roles and duties based on extensive communication and deep trust with God. Bible is the spiritual repository and the most suitable book for counseling utilization. Also the Bible specifically the methodology of healing and restoration God has spoken to mankind. So this study emphasized human understanding through the Bible to be used as the principles of counseling tool and application. Finally, Christian counselors would need to have a sense of calling in order to examine and structuralize spiritual repository found in the Bible from the standpoint of counseling studies.
