AB - This article focuses on discussing the religious significance of Satir's model, which tries to help clients' spiritual wholeness and gives great influence on today's family therapy, with relation to Paul Tillch's God's concept, in the critical view of the reformed theology of Christian Counseling. Consequently, it aims to protect identity of Christian Counseling and to minimize the negative effects due to thoughtless adopting the psychological notions of spirituality, in addition to proposing some directions and criteria of adopting the psychological notions of spirituality. Satir understands clients as man, who pursuit equivalent unification with God on the ground of the Self. Paul Tillich views God as the answer to the question implied existential man's finitude, while proposes “the centered Self”concept. Satir shares Paul Tillich's views on the ontological understanding of the human nature, the ultimate reality, and the multi-dimensional understanding of man. Satir and Paul Tillich expose some theological problems. Firstly, they exhibit the possibility of danger of the absence of the personality trait of God. Secondly, they neglect sinful nature of human beings and importance of salvation through Jesus Christ, while asserting self-perfection achieved by man's efforts. Finally, they display the panentheistic view of God. Thus, in the critical light of the reformed theology of Christian Counseling, some directions and criteria of adopting the psychological notions of spirituality are proposed.
