ABSTRACT

This study discusses the situation where, within the parent-child relationship characterized by a high dependence in the childhood and adolescence period, the experience of attachment trauma such as abuse and neglect may continue to influence the subsequent development of children. Further, this study examines the mechanisms of treatment designed to alleviate attachment trauma beyond the relationship between attachment trauma and maladjustment. To that end, the comprehensive concept of attachment trauma is examined such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, and psychosocial neglect experienced due to parents and other attachment-related persons. In addition, existing studies on attachment trauma focused on their symptoms, psychopathology and other negative effects, but the positive sides of the experience of trauma were discovered, so the relationship between attachment trauma and posttraumatic growth is examined because there are cases where the negative effects of the experience of trauma were overcome, thus resulting in achieving inner growth, before cases of overcoming the negative effects of development orbit are examined through people in the Bible. Finally, it is reported that the detrimental damage of attachment trauma have effects on the psychological symptom, physical symptom, depressions, and interpersonal relations of an affected person even after he or she became an adult, and that influence continues, so this study discusses a need for Christian counselors to have take concern in attachment trauma and get involved in counseling. This study is significant in that Christian counseling getting involved in attachment trauma offers practical implications.
