ABSTRACT

This study focuses on examining the implications of fictional finalism based on Adler's theory from the Christian counseling point of view, and finding the possibility of it's application in the field of counseling including it's practical methods of application. Adler argues that distorted fictional finalism as well as private logic originated in early recollection brings on one's maladaptive life styles and many difficult life problems. In order to achieve the ultimate goal of Christian counseling, this study emphasizes on helping counselee's transition from life of fictional finalism to life of calling finalism in harmony with God's call and encouraging incarnated life of practicing Christ' love while getting out of self-centeredness and receiving others as existence themselves based on the right relationship with God. Thus, this study tries to assist counselees to figure out the reality of their own fictional finalism, consequently, to embrace themselves, having no choice but to live in a fence of their own fictional finalism. In addition, by opening counselees' eyes to their own calling finalism through exploring the word of God and their journey of life, the researcher suggests theoretical basis of counseling and concrete approaches to help them live their lives worthy of God's call, freeing them from the framework of maladaptive of their fictional finalism.
