ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the serial multiple mediating effects of faith maturity and communication ability in the relationship between empathic ability and psychological well-being for Christian university students. This study was conducted on 410 Christian university students, and data analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 26.0 programs, and all statistical significance levels were set to 5%. The research results verified through this study are as follows. First, it was found that the empathy ability of Christian university students directly affects the maturity of faith, communication ability, and psychological well-being. Second, it was verified that faith maturity affects empathy and psychological well-being. Third, it was verified that communication affects empathy ability and psychological well-being. Fourth, empathy ability is a result of psychological well-being through sequential mediation of faith maturity and communication ability. The direct effect is B=-.282, p<.001, and the indirect effect is B=.712 p<.001. And the total effect was B=.430 p<.001 and the final explanatory power was 66%, so the sequential mediation relationship was verified. The conclusion of this study means that both the direct effect and the indirect effect and the sequential effect in the relationship of independent and dependent variables and parameters have been proven. Therefore, it can be said that this study has drawn very meaningful results.
