AB - This study used narrative inquiry to understand how Christian university students narrate and reconstruct their experiences of parental loss and mourning over time. Participants in this study were recruited based on the criteria for university students who were undergoing a mourning process between 1 and 4 years after parental loss, and five participants were ultimately selected. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, and the analysis of the collected date and the presentation of results were carried out in five stages according to the procedure of narrative inquiry presented by Clandinin and Connelly. The narrative of each participant was developed in the flow of parental loss and mourning process, and its meaning was interpreted in consideration of temporal and relational context. The results of this study are presented through the following narratives: the narrative about the parental loss and mourning process of Christian university students was described as ‘The Story of the Parental Relationship Formation’, ‘The Story of Parental Loss Experience’, and ‘The Story of the mourning process within a Faith Context.’ Based on the research results, this study discussed practical implications at the personal, practical, and social level according to the justification criteria for narrative inquiry. Through this, along with the practical implications of Christian counseling, it revealed the need for sociocultural change in loss and mourning.
