ABSTRACT

As industrial structure changes, the salience of agriculture has been gradually decreased. However, the global food crisis sheds new light on the importance of agriculture. Social enterprises in rural areas have become an alternative for community development. In this study, we compared successful social enterprises in rural areas: France, the United States, Japan, Korea and other cases. Based on the results from analysis, this study suggests entrepreneurship training, systematic support from the government, involvement of local residents, and business development combined assets as strategies for developing Rural social enterprises.
