ABSTRACT

This study is to investigate the impact of organizational characteristics of social enterprises on performance. The study collects the data for analysis from 24 social enterprises and employs non-parametric regression analysis through neural network. The results of the analysis shows that types of businesses, size, types of organizations, corporate governance, and employment quality among the organizational characteristic factors of social enterprises have an influence on social performance. Size and types of organizations, corporate governance, and ownership structure among the organizational characteristic factors of social enterprises have an influence on economic performance. Size and type of organizations have a negative causal relationship to both social and economic performance. On the other hand, the types of business and the employment quality have a positive causal relationship to social performance, and corporate governance has a positive influence on economic performance. In particular, the ownership structure has a different causal relationship between social performance and economic performance.
