AB - Recently, community responsibility of the safety project is gradually increasing. Therefore, the local government is expanding its role, taking over more of the management of the Safety Community program and attempting to raise funds from central government and businesses to make it sustainable. This study draws on experiences of safety community program and research about advanced cases of safety communities. The case studies examine the two locations, setting out the local context for describing the process, results and lessons learnt. This alternatives are necessary and important, and recent years have seen an increase in participatory and community-based approaches to issues like policing, small arms control and crime prevention.
