ABSTRACT

This study conducts an empirical analysis on the factors influencing the entrepreneurial intention to smart farm start-ups for the new and prospective agricultural entrepreneurs and elderly people who are interested in cutting-edge agriculture. In doing so, it aims to provide basic data on the start-up farmers who are potential smart farm entrepreneurs, and draw implications for related policies. Then, this study selects internal personal characteristics and external environmental factors as the influencing factors affecting entrepreneurial intentions when prospective entrepreneurs consider smart farm establishment under current ICT (Internet and Communications Technology) environment. Next, theoretical concepts have been established and the resulting research model has also been set up through a literature review of previous research and policy data. The results of this study are as follows: First, the selected research variables are analyzed, such as internal personal characteristics, external environmental factors, perceived expectations for cutting-edge agriculture, and entrepreneurial intention to smart farm start-ups. Second, based on the aforementioned results, meaningful theoretical and policy implications are suggested.
