ABSTRACT

The goal of the study is threefold: 1) collecting all the Scandinavian studies published in South Korea up to now in the field of social science and extracting the basic statistical data of them, 2) analysing key words included in these studies in order to scrutinize overall research trends in each of the emerging research topics and 3) comparing international and domestic Scandinavian research trends. The academic database of DBpia and e-Article were used to search and extract relevant papers. The results show that Scandinavian studies were most actively conducted between the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s in South Korea, especially in the field of sociology, social welfare, politics and pedagogy. Often, these studies either tried to look closely into the Scandinavian welfare system itself in detail or a variety of social contexts that could enable it. Comparing international and domestic Scandinavian studies, it turns out that economic/management studies appeared much less in the latter. The number of research topics appeared in the latter were also much fewer than the former.
