ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status and needs of the university's creative convergence major operation to suggest implications for the effective operation plan of the creative convergence major. To this end, data were collected through an online survey of professors at University A, and priorities were derived by applying the independent sample t-test and The Location for Focus model to the collected quantitative data. The main research results are: First, micro-major was found to be the most effective type of major, so it is necessary to expand and operate micro-major according to the effectiveness of short-term intensive creative convergence education. Second, teaching activity conditions and teaching and learning support systems were found to be the most vulnerable areas, and in particular, administrative support for the operation of convergence subjects, industry-academic cooperation activities, and rationality of achievement evaluation were found to be insufficient. In terms of curriculum operation, it is necessary to expand institutional support in terms of administration and education by improving the organizational structure of the Department of Creative Convergence. Third, it is necessary to cooperate with industries and establish a future education environment as cooperative education with industry experts was derived as a top priority to strengthen future industrial connectivity, and it appears urgent to establish an educational environment based on new technologies. This study is significant in that it provided implications for field-oriented practical measures for the effective operation of university creative convergence majors. The results of this study are expected to be used as the basis for establishing specific strategies to support the effective operation of creative convergence majors in the field of university creative convergence education.
