Purpose: This study aimed to identify the correlation among self-esteem, human rights sensitivity and the perception of patients’ rights of cadets in Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy. Methods: The data were collected from 208 cadets with structured questionnaires in August of 2018 and analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program. Results: The average of self-esteem, human rights sensitivity and the patients’ rights awareness of participants were 2.60±.28, 3.39±1.27 and 4.70±.38 respectively. The cadets reported the highest score on the right of migrant workers and the lowest score on the right to privacy among the six episodes. In respect of the perception of patients’ rights, the cadets reported the highest score on the right pursue human worth and dignity and right to equality and the lowest score on the right to know and make autonomous decision. Human rights sensitivity was significantly different in gender, grade, clinical practice experience and education experiences in regards to human rights. There was statistically positive correlation between the sensitivity of human rights and the awareness of patients’ rights. Conclusion: It is required to design a more efficient nursing curriculum so that cadets enhance human rights sensitivity and awareness regarding patients’ rights.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine knowledge, attitude of oral contraceptives and menstrual attitude of female cadets in the ROK. Methods: This correlation study was conducted on 297 female cadets of 4 military academies using structured questionnaires from August to September in 2018. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, and Pearson correlation coefficient with SPSS program. Results: The oral contraceptives knowledge was 11.38±4.52, the oral contraceptives attitude was 3.58±10.46, the menstrual attitude was 3.19±16.90. The oral contraceptives knowledge showed significant positive correlation with the oral contraceptives attitude and statistically significant negative correlation with the menstrual attitude. The oral contraceptives attitude had statistically significant negative correlation with the menstrual attitude. Conclusion: As future military leaders, cadets need appropriate and continuous education about menstrual management such as using oral contraceptives. And education programs for female cadets based on features of military academy environment should be developed.

Purpose: The purpose of this correlational study is to investigate senior cadets as pre-platoon leader's health perception, empathy ability, and altruistic behavior. Methods: The data were collected from 182 senior cadets with structured questionnaires between June 29 and July 8 in 2018. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, χ2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson correlation coefficient using SPSS program. Results: Health perception, Empathy ability and Altruistic Behavior of the participants were 3.11±0.29, 3.75±0.35, 3.97±0.51 out of 5 points, respectively. The related factor of health perception was number of received somebody's help. And the related factor of empathy ability was romantic relationship, number of received somebody's help, and number of uses in military hospital. There was significantly positive correlation between health perception and empathy ability. However, there was no significant correlation between health perception and altruistic behavior. Conclusion: The study results suggest that it is necessary to develop education strategies for platoon leaders to improve their health perception and to manage soldier's health well considering empathy ability, altruistic behavior of cadets as pre-platoon leaders in the time of military academy.
