ABSTRACT

This thesis is to research the issue doxa and paradoxa of discourse of sexual matters in oral folktales. Lots of travestied tales of sexual matters show the rigid doxa, men as subject have the sexual dominance towards women. Especially that tales of sexual matters disguise mens violence towards women, their body and sexual organs by travestying. However some folktales have unusual female characters who give a denial to doxa which works in male dominated society. The heroines test, ridicule, and control male characters. Also they do not obey social order which man made and refuse the traditional norm and moral. These heroines are not found written tale-literature. We can find that oral folktales which contain sexual matters provide productive debate subjects to reestablish womens identities. Through the tales we can find the possibility to overcome doxa and have a chance to approach the paradoxa in sexual discourse.
