ABSTRACT

To transmit video data, it is necessary to optimize the transmission plan by considering factors such as the number of transmission rate changes, peak transmission rate, and peak transmission rate utilization, depending on the network environment. This transmission plan is called a smoothing algorithm, with examples including CBA, MCBA, and MVBA. In this study, the proposed algorithm[18] aimed at reducing peak transmission rate utilization is evaluated for performance across various smoothing algorithms and buffer sizes. The evaluation criteria include the number of transmission rate changes, peak transmission rate, buffer utilization, and peak transmission rate utilization. The evaluation results show that the peak transmission rate of the proposed algorithm [18] is similar to those of the CBA, MCBA, and MVBA smoothing algorithms, the number of transmission rate changes is closest to that of the MVBA algorithm, and the peak transmission rate utilization is the lowest.
