Autonomous driving technology, based on advancements in AI, machine learning, sensors, high-precision mapping, and V2X communication, enables vehicles to drive independently without human intervention. This technology is classified into SAE levels 0 to 5, with levels 4 and 5 representing full automation, offering societal benefits such as reduced traffic accidents and improved mobility efficiency. XR technology, encompassing VR, AR, and MR, holds significant potential to revolutionize the user experience(UX) in autonomous vehicles. While AR-based navigation and safety alert systems are currently utilized, higher levels of automation will require passenger-centric immersive interfaces and real-time data processing. Achieving this necessitates the integration of various technologies, including LiDAR, RADAR, AI, and 5G/6G communications, alongside the resolution of ethical and legal challenges. This paper discusses the key technologies of autonomous driving and XR for future mobility innovation.
