ABSTRACT

With the recent expansion of the non-face-to-face economic ecosystem and the rapid growth of the smart commerce market, building and operating online shopping malls has become essential for corporate survival; however, the practical work performance and database integration competencies of new web developers often fall short of industry expectations. This paper analyzes and presents the process flows, database modeling, and core algorithms for key modules required to systematically build an online shopping mall. In particular, we introduced the concept of a ‘temporary cart (tempcart)’ based on a short lifecycle to handle ‘instant purchases,’ allowing us to reuse a large part of the source code from the existing cart implementation while also proposing an efficient design that can completely prevent memory overload on the Web Application Server when many users make ‘instant purchases’ at the same time. Furthermore, load testing using Apache JMeter empirically demonstrates high-speed processing performance, achieving a 0.00% error rate and an average response time of 0.9–1.4 ms under a concurrent load of up to 2,500 transactions. The results of this study are universally extensible to various web development environments, and are thus expected to contribute to providing standardized practical guidelines for new web developers and learners.
