ABSTRACT

This paper analyzed the radio interference impact of commercial drone (DJI OcuSync) operations on Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) environments sharing the 2.4GHz ISM band using the Monte-Carlo method. The WLAN service radius was calculated using the Modified Hata Model to reflect real-world environment characteristics, and changes in communication quality were quantitatively examined according to the drone's flight altitude and separation distance. Simulation results revealed that a minimum protection separation distance of at least 100m is required under the worst-case conditions at a flight altitude of 50m. Furthermore, it was confirmed that up to 12 drones can coexist without mutual interference within an interference protection threshold of 5%. These research results are expected to be utilized as fundamental data for designing interference avoidance algorithms and operational guidelines for efficient frequency sharing of ISM-band drones.
