AB - This study examines generative AI art not as a mere creative tool, but as a media-ecological phenomenon that reorganizes the conditions of artistic production and the structure of aesthetic appreciation. To this end, it analyzes the media conditions of AI art based on the media theories of Walter Benjamin, Lev Manovich, and the cybernetic aesthetics of Nam June Paik. It also discusses how authorship in generative AI creation is not attributed to a single individual, but is reconfigured into a distributed structure in which data, algorithms, platforms, users, and exhibition institutions are combined. This study categorizes these changes into three models: the meta-author, centaur collaboration, and platform-based collective authorship. Furthermore, it argues that in AI art, the viewer is transformed from a passive audience who interprets the work into an operator who intervenes in the generative process. Through this analysis, this study proposes the concept of “operational aesthetics,” centered on execution, feedback, and interaction. Therefore, generative AI art is not a technological trend, but a new aesthetic laboratory of contemporary art in which humans and machines, data and sensation are combined.
