ABSTRACT

It is time to think about the role of universities. Currently, universities not only do not meet the needs of students or parents who are educational consumers, but also do not meet expectations for the talent capabilities produced by universities in the industrial field. As the speed of technological innovation in industries increases, the image of human resources to be raised in universities is also changing in various ways. In order to solve the social problem of the disappearance of local populations and universities, local governments and local universities must establish a regional innovation platform for a cooperative system. The establishment of a regional innovation platform is also a problem directly related to the success of the RIS and RISE projects currently being promoted. In order for regional innovation projects to produce results, industry-academic cooperation must be activated. In this paper, after examining the education system based on industry-academic cooperation that has been promoted in Korea, we sought ways to cooperate between local governments and local universities. Furthermore, the problems of industry-academic cooperation in Korea and ways to revitalize it were presented. Korea's industry-academia cooperation included poor performance of the technological innovation system, persistence of corporate concerns, and passive professor participation of local government organizations and human resources, regulatory innovation and university structural reform, closure and idle school sites.
