ABSTRACT

This study aims to present policy suggestions for improving job satisfaction by identifying changes in the life safety police following the implementation of the municipal police system and analyzing how job-related changes affected the job satisfaction of municipal police officers. To this end, a survey was conducted on 158 G city municipal police officers. The results of the study were: First, as a result of analyzing the differences in life safety police changes and job satisfaction, first, changes in task importance, horizontal communication, recognition, and promotion possibility in life safety police changes were positively recognized after the introduction of the municipal police system, and all variables showed significant differences. Next, job satisfaction of municipal police officers decreased, and statistically significant differences were found in age, class, affiliation, and number of years of service in accordance with demographic characteristics. Second, there was a significant correlation between changes in life safety police and job satisfaction. Finally, as a result of analyzing the relative impact of life safety police changes on job satisfaction, it was found that life safety police change recognition predicted a profound explanatory power in understanding job satisfaction, and promotion possibility, horizontal communication, task importance, and recognition were found to be important variables in understanding job satisfaction. In order to synthesize the research results and improve job satisfaction, first, establish a reward system for reasonable performance, effort, and experience, second, introduce a promotion ratio system for each function, and third, form a life safety activity evaluation council involving local governments, police, and experts. Since this study selected and investigated only municipal police officers working in G city, there is a limit to generalizing the results of this study, and in subsequent studies, a study on the job satisfaction of municipal police officers should be conducted by randomly sampling municipal police officers from other regions. In addition, research should be conducted on the relationship between variables that are causally valid, including various variables that can affect the job satisfaction of police officials following the introduction of the municipal police system.
