ABSTRACT

As information and communication technology has developed, activities in cyberspace have become more active, and we are leading convenient daily lives. In particular, teenagers enjoy school life in online spaces, such as conversations, information exchange and acquisition, and group gatherings, just like in the real world. In other words, school activities in cyberspace are evaluated positively because they are free and convenient. On the other hand, various deviances and crimes that occur in virtual space cannot be overlooked. School violence in cyberspace takes many forms, including verbal abuse, bullying, sexual violence, and stalking, and is more dangerous because it causes anxiety and pain continuously and repeatedly, regardless of time and place. According to the 「School Violence Prevention and Countermeasures Act」, the process of deliberation and handling of school violence is specified, but educational institutions and investigative agencies lack the personnel and expertise to handle cyber school violence, so it can be said that they are insufficient to solve the rapidly increasing cyber school violence. In addition, cyber school violence has lower social awareness than general types of school violence, and cannot avoid criticism of corporate social responsibility. Cyber school violence is not a problem that can be solved by sanctioning the incident that occurred, so some strategies that can prevent cyber school violence in advance must be prepared. Current school education is still pursuing a distorted spoon-fed education and performance-oriented education, so it is necessary to form an education system that allows students to recognize and prevent problems on their own. In addition, institutional strategies should be prepared to block cyber violence before it evolves into a serious incident in cooperation with professional investigators. To take social responsibility for cyber school violence, policy communication through cooperation between the public, private, and academic sectors is emphasized.
