AB - The main purposes of this writing are to look into the current status of Chunhyang Festival that is one of the oldest festivals in my country, having 83-year-old history and seek for its direction forward.
Chunhyang Festival is held every year as a representative one of Namwon, which is Korea's best traditional and cultural tourism festival. It was awarded as one of the excellent festivals for four years in a row from 2009 to 2012. Now Namwon City has endeavored to elevate its rank to the best that is one level higher than the excellent one.
Chunhyang Festival has abundant cultural assets that are difficult to be found in other festivals. It is also the only festival whose theme is 'love'.
These two important factors will make it possible to lead it from the country's one to the world's one. It sure is the traditional and cultural festival, but, first of all, it should be loved by the tourists and Namwon citizens in order to be able to be upgraded to one of the international festival.
