AB - The purpose of this study is to describe the sentence structure pattern and the meaning of analytic tautologies. It is said that the analytic tautologies are always the true sentences which the same predicate is repeated within a sentence such as ‘Happy boys are happy’, or ‘A-nun saram-un an-da(A knowledged person is to know.)'. This study is trying to explain that the analytic tautologies do not deliver new informations because they are also redundant such a nominal tautology as ‘Kids are kids', but they convey the various communicative import, which are of the conventional and different language-specific examples in every culture. First of all, the Natural Semantic Metalanguage(NSM) is applied for the methodology of a semantic description in analytic tautologies and their meanings are trying to be described discriminating their definite syntactic formular from their meanings. By doing these tries, it is verified that a semantic description in analytic tautologies is suggested as a universal frame containing a pragmatic implicature as well as describing a context-independently. As a result, the meanings of analytic tautologies are suggested as the following five divisions. (1) in advance, (before anything happens) realizing a certain thing. (2) recognizing the existence of a person with the ability to do V. (3) the unchangeable human characteristics or destiny. (4) the realization and justification of a behavior. (5) the speaker’s faith on the truth.
