AB - This study examined whether the phonological information of visually presented words. One of characteristics of connective endings functioning as final endings is that they are actively used in ‘connective ending+hada’ structure. This study focused on the endings that are used as connective ending, final ending and ‘connective ending+hada’ and examined their characteristics when used in ‘connective ending+hada’ structure. Having ‘hada’, which lost the lexical meaning, after the connective ending signifies that this connective ending does not form a relational meaning between preceding and following clauses. Therefore, ‘hada’ in case has a grammatical function. In addition, even in the identical form, its meaning and function varies based on the ending that precedes ‘hada’. ‘hada’ is closely related to the meaning of preceding ending, and functions differently depending on the preceding ending, and such difference is related to the syntactic characteristics as well.
