ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to point out some problems in current Korean school grammar and to suggest an alternative proposal. Because some problems is included in current Korean school grammar. The problems is derived from valency of predicate. But the concept of valency of predicate is not agree with concept of constituent as a grammatical unit. Because the concept of valency of predicate is the concept of predicate logic. Nevertheless in current Korean school grammar two concepts is confused seriously. Recently foreign learners of Korean is increasing rapidly. On this account, Korean school grammar cannot help performing the role of the Representative grammar of Korean. Accordingly some problems in current Korean school grammar must be rectified by the concept of Constituent.
