AB - As we move into the digital-based society, the atmosphere that regards emotional sensibility as important thing is proliferating over our society. This study places emphasis on developing emotionally sensitive and expressive skills by using storytelling technique in the university's thinking and expression class. Compared with fact-based information delivery method, storytelling is apt to share the mutual understanding between speaker and audience. In this way, storytelling can contribute to strengthen the emotional carrying capacity of the students.
In this paper two types of learning models are proposed. One is autobiographical writing, and the other is the production and presentation of digital storytelling text. Autobiographical writing type covers two categories. The first category is autobiographical text reading and writing. The second is autobiographical storytelling and writing. The reading and writing type gives students an experience to reflect their lives quietly alone. In this type, students write their own writing by benchmarking the motif or pattern of the example story. In contrast, the latter heals students' wounds through talking to group members by externalizing the experience of the speaker and this leads students to a path of self discovery. The story that speaker has experienced is renewed to a current meaningful story by means of timeline.
Making of digital storytelling text meets the current demands of literacy education. Through the production of digital storytelling text which consists of sound, visual, and story, students are able to capture the emotional communion effects. Especially self introducing UCC which should be submitted to the company for job application purpose has practical meaning. Except for self expression, storytelling can be applied various communication situations and has much effects which is left for the future study.
