AB - The materials of pansori master singer Kim Se-jong are not enough. So I tried to interpret the data aggressively in this study. The results are as below.
Three villages have been known as the birthplace of Kim Se-jong. They are Jeollabuk-do Sunchang-gun Gurim-myeon Gugok-ri Dongjeongja Village, Palddeok-myeon Wolgok-ri and Sunchang-eup Boksil-ri. Of these places, Palddeok-myeon Wolgok-ri is the place that Kim Se-jong spent his final years. And the descendants of him moved to Japan in Japanese colonial era. So they do not live in Korea now.
Kim Se-jong learned the pansori that had been inherited in his family. And he won a greate success as a pansori singer at last.
He taught the first female pansori singer Jin Chae-seon and introduced her to the Gyeonghoeru Pavillion Completion Party. In this study a manuscript was introduced that reads Kim Se-jong with some other singers sang a pansori in Jeolla province office in September of 1885.
Jang Jae-baek inherited Kim Se-jong. Jang's family took charge of the pansori of Namwon region. The Chunhyang-ga of Kim Se-jong was handed down to Jeong Eung-min by way of Kim Chan-eop. But this study revealed the possibility that the Chunhyang-ga of Kim Se-jong was handed down to Jeong Jae-geun.
The Kim Se-jong's pansori theory is mainly a performance theory. His theory includes neoreumsae(acting) theory, imyeon(literature and pansori music expression) theory and eodanseongjang(language expression of pansori) theory. In some aspects, he developed the pansori performance theory of Sin Jae-hyo by far.
The Chunhyang-ga of Kim Se-jong is sung by many contemporary pansori singers. It is a good thing that we can enjoy the Chunhyang-ga of Kim Se-jong today.
