ABSTRACT

This study investigated on the aspects of regional language and its aesthetic function of Jeong Yang's poems in terms of regional literature that endowed substantial value to regional literature and adopted Jeonbuk regional language overwhelmingly in his poems now that he finds his literary identity out of regionality. First this study identified his perception about regional language and regional literature. And then this study categorized and investigated his aspects of regional language into three: phonology, lexicology and grammar in linguistic perspective. Finally, this study examined the aesthetic function of regional language of Jeong Yang's poems in poetic perspective, after categorizing aesthetic function into two: lyric and narrative poetry. Therefore this study identified the academic significance of Jeong Yang's poems in poetic literature in that his poems imposed poetic quality on regional language, adopting regional language through designing aesthetically and identified his value in regional literature in that he reestablished the position of regional language and explored identity of regional culture, making local people a linguistic subject.
