ABSTRACT

Choi Seungja is a female poet who represents the 1980s. In the 1980s, societal political oppression was severe, and rapid democratization and a desire for democratization were at a time when it was too early. Seoul is a space of personal life for Choi Seungja and is a place to be a background for writing. I will examine the real problems and suffering of the speaker or contemporaries in Choi Seungja's poetry, such as the failure and loss of love, political oppression and sacrifice, and relative deprivation and alienation due to wealth distribution.
