ABSTRACT

This study aims to develop a teaching and learning model that optimizes the effectiveness of the elective course "Speech and Language" within the revised 2022 curriculum. The study confirmed the integral role of discourse in the convergence of speech and grammar. Grammar provides the foundation for discourse performance, fostering the development of appropriate communication norms. Additionally, speech exposes grammar to a variety of discourse contexts, enabling the exploration of practical linguistic resources for effective communication. Subsequently, relevant grammar education content was identified and an integrated inquiry-based learning process was devised, focusing on understanding listener honorifics and discourse elements. This model aligns with the inquiry process outlined in the revised 2022 curriculum, employing a framework of “topic selection-language data investigation-analysis and result derivation” within the context of the integrated speech and grammar.
