ABSTRACT

This article aims at understanding correctly Louis XV who has not attracted the attention from histoirans and regarded as the culprit of the political crisis of the 18th century, and his monarchy. Under the reign of Louis XV, French monarchy achieved concrete and practical institutions and managerial development, well matched up to the name of the administrative monarchy. But it was not the definitive result of the reign of Louis XV, but the long time historical outcome based on the close connection of politics and society. These traits of French absolute monarchy as its own politico-social regime formed by compromising with private interests and making them obedient after the religious war of the second half of the 16th century were more reinforced by way of the revolts and the wars of the 17th century and also maintained in the 18th century. Actually, French monarchy has not been extricated from inherent contradictions of the absolute monarchy, such as office sale, perverted financial system and patronage even in the 18th century, and public sphere of politics and administration was entangled complicatedly with private sphere by ambitions and interests of individuals and families. This article tried to analyze the microsphere of the power elites who dominated the court and the government where all kinds of contradictions have been intensified.
