ABSTRACT

This report studied the process of production and rationalization of Michelin, french tyre company and Cirtoen, the french automobile company from 1920s to 1950s. In defining the concept for Americanization in relation to the process of rationalization for two enterprises, we analyzed the success and failure in the introduction of taylorism, the specific enterprise culture, the authentical paternalism inside the company, the successful strategy and the particularity of enterprises which enabled to survive in crisis. Focusing on the archetypal mass production between the 1920s and 1950s, we have found in case of Michelin and Citroen that they did not always bring positive results of Americanization.
