AB - The purpose of this study is to figure out the nude tendency, as an arts form, which revealed differently along the period and social background. Because the nude form did not shown until 19th centuries in dance, this study focused on dance and painting after 19th centuries.Different from nakedness, nude was considered as an artistic clothes. The positive usage of nude as an art form in western culture was caused by the humanism based on ancient Greek culture. These cultural background mainly have effected to nude concept. Nude in Renaissance era was not accepted as a public activity not like Greek? and presented deifying ideal beauty of human body. Until modern era, nude in painting mostly used within the sensual aura. Meanwhile, in the 19th centuries, nude which was originally purposed for dramatic development and technical display in Ballet was adopting only to show the woman? body.After the post-modernism, artists closely interacted in their works, so that dance and visual arts relatively created. With this trend, the sexual subject became openly used as the public issues. So, in 20th centuries, nude in dance and painting were accepted not only as a symbol in various woman? beauty and gender liberation but also as an alarming for social problems of the desolation tendency of human beings who became impoverished due to capitalism and mannerism.In the end, starting from the interests of human natural beauty, nude concept is improved to the sexual inquisitiveness. And recently, the nude in visual arts is using as a signifier which reflects the various social issues and problems.
