ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of creative dance learning on elementary school children?s recovery from stress. The dance learning program was composed 16 weeks and 80 minutes for each class. The dance learning program was applied to the experiment group after school but nothing was done to the controlled group. After completing the learning, a post-test was performed. Results obtained from analyzing data collected according to the research purpose and methods are as follows.First, the experiment group?s level of stress experience was positively lowered after dance learning compared to the controlled group which showed an increase of the level of stress experience without statistical significance in the post-test, the experiment group showed a decrease of the level of stress experience with statistical significance (p<.OO2) after the dance program. This shows that stress was relieved positively in the children of the experiment group.Second, the level of stress experience was lowered after dance learning compared to that before the learning. The results show that edu-care program helps build students? self-esteem, emotional stability and self-controlling ability and it has positive effects on their school life and self-expectations level. The results of this study show that dance learning has a positive effect on elementary school children?s recovery from stress. The dance will play an important role not only for children?s recovery from stress but also for dance education attaining the educational goal of harmonious all-round development.
