ABSTRACT

This study aims to propose a sustainable business model for street dance battle culture in Korea. As a case study, it analyzes Juste Debout, a globally recognized French battle event, through the Business Model Canvas focusing on value proposition, delivery, and revenue generation. To evaluate the applicability of these findings to the Korean context, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six Korean street dancers. The results show that the improvisational and experiential value of battles functions as a distinctive intellectual property (IP) asset. However, value delivery remains largely limited to media content, with insufficient integration into education and career development, while revenue is concentrated among top performers. The study also identifies the absence of career history certification and copyright remuneration systems as structural challenges. Based on these findings, it proposes an “Event-Academy-Media” integrated IP business model incorporating career history certification and copyright revenue-sharing systems for the Korean street dance industry
