AB - This study examined Varient Characters in sections covering the same topic from the two books, Zhangjiashan Hanjian Maishu and Mawangdui Boshu Medical books. Through a comparison of these two books, which are believed to have been written in the same year, this study could examine both the complementary effect between the two imperfect materials and the use of letters at that time. For a more in-depth investigation of the use of letters, each book should have been completely analyzed. However, as this was outside the scope of this study, only the sections covering the same topic were reviewed. Through the comparison of these two materials, the link between these two books and modern oriental medicine can also be found in the future.
