Worldwide effort is under way to utilize the Urban park as a means of responding to the climate change, providing various benefits to citizens. However, it also has several negative effects such as increase in pollen allergy at the same time. These negative impacts have been defined as ecosystem disservice and discussed globally, while the discussion remains still insufficient domestically. In particular, the pollen allergy has been discussed as a typical ecosystem disservice with negative impacts such as an increase in symptoms attributed to a higher production of pollen or the growth of trees with higher antigenicity. WHO reports that approximately 30% of world’s population has been suffering from pollen allergies. Many recent researches indicate that the harm induced by pollen allergy is expected to increase due to changes in the climate and thermal environment. In this context, we aim to diagnose the allergenicity of current Urban parks and assess changes according to scenarios of climate change. In order to achieve this goal, we practically assess pollen allergenicity in Seoul Children’s Grand Park using Urban Green Space Allergenicity Index (IUGZA) as the first step towards discussing ecosystem disservice. We find that the value of IUGZA in target area exceeds the threshold suggested in previous researches, causing harm due to the pollen allergy and is expected to increase according to the climate change scenarios. We conclude that this result indicates that social harm from the pollen allergy in urban parks may increase due to climate change therefore we emphasize the necessity of discussion of ecosystem disservice in compositions of urban parks.

Historically, humans settled in waterside areas that provided abundant resources and water resources. Afterwards, as industrialization progressed, the city's waterfront contributed to the development of the city through water resources, transportation, and maritime trade. In response to changes in industrial structure, over the past few decades, the city's waterfront has transitioned from an industrial and port-oriented function to a public space function. And from the perspective of urban regeneration, research and design on sustainable waterfront space development are being promoted around the world. However, areas near waterfronts are geographically vulnerable to the direct impact of natural disasters caused by climate change, such as sea level rise and floods. Therefore, it is essential to establish a systematic management plan to ensure the safety of citizens and publicness. Since the 1990s, New York City in the United States has been establishing a city-level waterfront space management plan to ensure the public nature, safety, and equity of waterfront spaces. On the other hand, in South Korea, there is a lack of research on city-level waterfront management plans. Accordingly, this study sought to find implications and policy improvement measures for domestic waterfront space planning by examining the development process and major policies of New York City's waterfront comprehensive plan.

The environmental impact assessment have been played important role for sustainable development of the country. Meantime, various studies have been conducted for scientific and effective environmental impact assessment. However the quantitative data such as regional distribution status and development characteristics according to the type of development project, environmental changes due to development projects, and spatial-temporal changes are insufficient, currently. In this study, we investigated the eco-friendliness of major development projects(industrial complex, urban development, tourist complexes, and waste disposal equipments) by integrating the EA-INDEX of each development projects which were reported by prior researches. As a result, we found that the eco-friendliness of development projects tended to gradually increase over time due to the increase in eco-friendliness in the protection of living environment sector. The protection of living environment sector was a major factor in the the eco-friendliness of industrial complexes and urban development projects. In the case of road construction, landfill and tourist complex development projects, the natural environment conservation sector was a major factor in the eco-friendliness of the project. As a result of analyzing the eco-friendliness of development projects by local government, the eco-friendliness of development projects promoted and implemented in Ulsan, Jeonnam, and Gwangju was higher compared to other regions, and it was relatively low in Daejeon, Gyeongnam, and Daegu. This study is considered to be significant in that it conducted a quantitative analysis of the eco-friendliness of development projects carried out over a relatively long period of time throughout South Korea by dividing them by year and local government.
