ABSTRACT

This study is a consideration on the travelling diary titled Hubukjeongrok(後北征錄) that Park Se-dang had been to Hamgyeong Province in 1688. Hubukjeongrok is the collection of poems, which gathered the pieces that Park Se-daong wrote focusing on the inspiration of geographic features of being met in a trip that he made for participating in Yeonsirye(延諡禮) by his grandfather Park Dong-seon(朴東善) and his father Park Jeong(朴炡). Park Se-dang's poetry reveals poetic emotion based on the very realistic, sensible, actual, and experiential contents. Even a work of Hubukjeongrok isn't exceptional. Many parts among poems with 53 subjects and 76 pieces number are revealing a practical turn of mind when encountering an object or a situation available for feeling tension and relief at the same time that can be given in a poem by not hiding but revealing a poet's dramatic emotion. This study examined on the basis of his syntax and contemporary opinion rather than being based on Park Se-dang's theory of Chinese classics in considering Hubukjeongrok. He said that a sentence needs to be based on the simple and logical description and that a poem needs to be expressed focusing on own mind and feeling. In other words, he emphasized on which the writing doesn't crunch only when being consistent and that the contents need to reveal the untouched emotion plainly. The aim was to understand and appreciate his work based on syntax and contemporary opinion in this way.
