ABSTRACT

Joseonmunhaktongsa(Sang), Joseonmunhaksa(Godae-Jungse pyeon), Joseonmunhaksa 1 are the texts that I used in this paper. The former is the book written before appearance of Juche Idea, and the latter two are the books written after establishment of Juche Idea. The authors of the former declared that they narrated their literary histories on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and historicism, the authors of the latter two emphasized the aesthetic view of Juche Idea with it. The viewpoint that Hyangga was originated from the people’s collective work folk songs i.e. Dure songs is common in all the literary history books of North Korea. It might be necessary to emphasize the tendency of people and working class of the mandatory requirements of social realism. Hyangga was a genre that emerged as a concrete poetic form, being written in Hyangchal as the writing means created after long time when the working class had sung them as their living songs. Therefore, the process of writing the songs was a process of manufacture that had been refined formally. And, to find out the changeover from song i.e. ‘poem reciting’ to poetry i.e. poem writing was a reasonable discovery of aspect of developing the poetry history. It was a natural result to the people who recognized literature as the means of assistance for socialist revolution that showed the appearance of ideological excess in the interpretation of the individual songs. They had to interpret the songs reasonably even in the realm of the Hyangga of Classic age, and the result of interpretation had to coincide with collectivity, class strife, and strife against foreign power on the basis of people tendency. The keynote for narrating literary history was not changed so much even in the time of Juche Idea. There was no reason that they had to change the aesthetic basis of social realism which North Korea have reassured itself for a long time. We can find out the reason that the tendency of interpreting works in the former literary histories held out, despite they rendered Juche aesthetics as their own doctrine. Because it is not easy to find out the negative points in that Hyangga works were the first stage’s songs written in our own writing system i.e. Hyangchal, the interpretation of Hyangga in the North Korea’s literary histories seems to be rather a little neat. And, it is because Hyangga works have a little element of class, ideology strife or strife against foreign power. Despite we can’t deny the mendacity from excess of ideology in Hyangga’s historical development or interpreting works, also there is a reason to recognize their own rationality partly in this point.
