ABSTRACT

Although Korean modern literature began to develop in earnest in the early 20th century, major works of classical literature were still actively enjoyed during the Japanese colonial period. Since the late 18th century, the wave of modernization, which has been pushed hard, has taken its place as an irreversible flow of the times, and in response to this movement, the conflicting consciousness of ‘cheoksa’ and ‘gaehwa’ has emerged. These contradictory tendencies were concentrated on the theme of patriotism or patriotism enlightenment in the Chinese poetry works of the literary men who were active at that time. In particular, Chinese poetry works on these subjects were published in various papers including newspapers. By examining the works of Chinese poetry writers who were active during this period, we can get a glimpse of the aspects of the perception of the times. The introduction and study of Chinese poetry recorded in major newspapers and magazines in the present day has been steadily carried out, but on the other hand, the research results on the literary works of Chinese poets who created Chinese poetry during the Japanese colonial period and the aspects of the works of Chinese poetry are insufficient. In order to examine the aspects of the writers' creation of Chinese poetry during the Japanese colonial period, I would like to study <Byeoksosigo>, a collection of literary works by Byeokso Lee Youngmin(1882∼1964). Since <Byeoksosigo> contains more than 120 Chinese poems by Lee Youngmin, it is possible to confirm the activities and aspects of the works of Chinese poetry writers at that time through the review of this literature. Lee Youngmin was an independent activist who was active in Suncheon during the Japanese colonial period and led the peasant movement in the Suncheon area and led the tenant dispute. During the same period, he created a poetry and weaved a collection of poems, but Lee Youngmin's aspect as a literary person has not yet been studied properly. During the Japanese colonial period, Lee Youngmin invited traditional artists to Suncheon to arrange performances, and created a poem about their music and photographed it in the background. As a literary man, he compiled a collection of poems he created and compiled a collection of poems. In this study, the works contained in Lee Youngmin's literary works were categorized based on the titles, along with reviewing the characteristics of each item and discussing the world of works by presenting some works. In addition, the newspaper articles of the time were searched to reconstruct and introduce Lee Youngmin's activities, and the organization and features of <Byeoksosigo> were reviewed.
